色付き始めた一葉から真紅に染まった一葉まで、それぞれ異なる表現で描かれた楓が鮮麗な、彫桃氏の手による紅葉散らしの七分袖。以前に彫った梵字とのバランスを見極めながら、紅葉と額を流れるように破綻なく描き上げた構成力に目を見張る。
This is a beautiful three quarter sleeve of momiji-chirashi (scattered autumn leaves) done by Horimomo with maple leaves expressed in different ways from one just beginning to turn color to one turned crimson. His ability to create a flowing composition of autumn leaves and gaku, while maintaining a balance with the Sanskrit characters he has tattooed in the past, is remarkable.
The kumo-mikiri (cloud gaku) partly colored like akane-gumo glowing in vermilion in the setting sun, is extremely innovative. His flexible attitude of incorporating original ideas while placing importance on the classics is the reason why his irezumi attracts so many people.
